Atletico, Villarreal and Leganes win

Title hopefuls Atletico Madrid continued their impressive start to the season with a 1-0 win over 10-man Deportivo La Coruna at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday.

Depor suffered a setback on the stroke of half-time when Faycal Fajr received his marching orders for two bookable offences, and Atleti took advantage of the extra man after the break as Antoine Griezmann netted the winner 20 minutes from time.

Diego Simeone's side remain unbeaten in La Liga this term after six matches and are two points behind leaders Real Madrid in third, while the 15th-placed Galicians haven't won this the opening day of the new campaign.

Elsewhere, Villarreal kept pace with Los Rojiblancos after they beat rock-bottom Osasuna 3-1 at El Madrigal.

First-half goals from Alexandre Pato (5'),  Bruno (24' pen) and Nicola Sansone (39') secured all three points for the fourth-placed Yellow Submarine, who are also undefeated in 2016/17.

Los Rojillos managed to pull one back on the stroke of half-time when they too were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Roberto Torres.

Meanwhile, Valencia will be hoping they have turned the corner after recording a 2-1 victory over Leganes at Estadio Municipal de Butarque.

Los Che finally managed to halt their winless start to the season when they beat Alaves in midweek, although they found themselves behind against the newly-promoted club, who took the lead through Alexander Szymanowski on 21 minutes.

But Nani restored parity 11 minutes before half-time and Mario Suarez completed the comeback win seven minutes into the second half to lift Voro's men up to 14th position, one point adrift of the 11th-placed Pepineros.

Sunday's La Liga results:

Leganes 1-2 Valencia

Atletico Madrid 1-0 Deportivo La Coruna

Villarreal 3-1 Osasuna
