Sunday’s Eredivisie round-up

Feyenoord maintained their 100 percent record in the Eredivisie this season as they hammered hapless Roda JC 5-0 at De Kuip on Sunday.

The visitors held out until the 25th minute when Nicolai Jorgensen opened the scoring and a second goal from Karim El Ahmadi 10 minutes later saw the Eredivisie leaders in control at the break.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s high-flyers took their foot off the gas in the second half, but they finished strongly as Jorgensen (83′), Jens Toornstra (88′) and Terence Kongolo all netted in the closing stages, keeping De Stadionclub five points clear of the chasing pack, while condemning 17th-placed De Koempels to their third straight defeat.

Elsewhere, Utrecht picked up their first win of the new campaign as they beat Sparta Rotterdam 2-0 at Stadion Galgenwaard.

The hosts got off to the perfect start when Richairo Zivkovic fired them in front after just three minutes and Nacer Barazite (80′) secured the three points in the closing stages, which lifts Erik ten Hag’s team up to 13th spot, five places behind De Kasteelheren in eighth.

Twente made it back-to-back wins in the league as they ran out 2-1 victors over Vitesse at De Grolsch Veste.

Goals either side of half-time from Enes Unal (16′) and Bersant Celina (85′) sealed the victory for the Tukkers, who moved up to sixth, while Lewis Baker (90′) scored a late consolation for seventh-placed Vitas.

Meanwhile, NEC and fellow strugglers Willem II saw their winless runs continue after their clash at the Goffertstadion ended goalless.

Peter Hyballa’s men are down in 15th position, having not won in four outings – a run matched by the Superkruiken directly above them in the standings.

Sunday’s Eredivisie results:

NEC 0-0 Willem II

Utrecht 2-0 Sparta Rotterdam

Twente 2-1 Vitesse

Feyenoord 5-0 Roda JC
