Sampdoria were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Empoli in Thursday night's Serie A encounter at the Marassi.
Eder looked to have given the home side the lead in only the third minute of the game but his celebrations were cut short when the referee spotted the linesman's flag.
Amazingly, the Brazilian-born forward would have another goal ruled out for offside just nine minutes later.
The first half remained goalless, and it was the visitors who claimed the lead on 59 minutes when Manuel Pucciarelli collected a pass inside the box and delivered a superb strike into the top left corner.
After twice being denied earlier, however, Eder finally struck in the 67th minute, levelling the scores with a sweet shot after a well-worked team move.
The hosts had a couple of good chances to snatch all three points late in the game, but neither Joacquin Correa or Luis Muriel could convert.
Assane Diousse was shown his marching orders in the 88th minute for a second offence, but there wasn't enough time for Sampdoria to make the most out of their one-man advantage.
The point earned was still enough to see them move into the top half of the table in ninth place, however.
