Arsenal vs Blackburn Player Ratings

Arsenal got their first win in 2012 with an emphatic 7-1 victory over Blackburn at the Emirates Stadium.

Too quick for Olsson...

Wojciech Szczesny - 6.5
Got a hand to the Pedersen free-kick but it was insufficient to prevent the goal. Didn't have plenty to do apart from collecting loose balls and taking free-kicks.

Laurent Koscielny (68' off) - 8
Unbeatable in the air and has the pace to chase the runners from Blackburn. He even looked dangerous in the opposition penalty area from set pieces.

Per Mertesacker - 7
A stroll in the park for the German international as Modeste was starved upfront for virtually the whole match.

Thomas Vermaelen - 7
Gave the home supporters a scare when he was down on the pitch in pain. It would be nice to see him back in his more established position in the heart of defence rather than at left back though.

Francis Coquelin - 7
The utility player featured at right back in this game and despite being played out of position week after week, he never fails to impress. Should enjoy his time in the starting XI before the return of the injured full backs.

Mikel Arteta - 7
Scored against Blackburn at Ewood park and was on target again on Saturday, with a well taken shot on the edge of the area. The Arteta - Rosicky partnership in the middle actually looked sumptuous, and could be crucial in the upcoming fixtures.

Alex Song (72' off) - 7.5
When a holding midfielder is allowed a dozen of defence splitting passes, we have an idea of how slack Blackburn's closing down is. Arsenal could even afford to rest their most consistent midfielder this season in the 72nd minute.

Tomas Rosicky - 7.5
Glad to see he got his shooting boots back on, instead of Arsenal's usual "pass the ball into the net" tactic. Aaron Ramsey can continute warming the bench.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (68' off) - 9
Deserved his regular start in the previous few games and was rewarded with his first Premier League goal. Took his second beautifully through the legs of Pedersen. A composed head on young shoulders indeed.

Theo Walcott - 7.5
He had two similar assists for Van Persie and another for the Ox after beating Olsson with ease, making the crosses and runs down the right all game.

Robin Van Persie - 10
Van Persie deserves a perfect ten for the three goals and two assists. He peeled away from the pack of players eyeing the Premier League's golden boot award with his clinical finishing.

Thierry Henry (68' on) - 7
The fans were chanting his name long before his substitution, and boy did he please the fans with his deflected goal!

Bacary Sagna (68' on) - 6
Just another 30 minute run out for the French full back to regain his match fitness.

Yossi Benayoun (72' on)

Paul Robinson - 6
Blackburn's poor keeper could not do much after his full backs literally invited both Walcott and Chamberlain to cut in into the middle

Gael Givet (42' sent off) - 3
Everyone has their moment of insanity in one point of their footballing career and his two footed challenge on Van Persie earned him an early shower.

Scott Dann - 5
The Arsenal transfer target looked uncomfortable all game and must have wished he made that transfer instead of fighting a relegation battle every week.

Martin Olsson - 3
Poor marking on Walcott allowed him to repeatedly get behind Olsson, getting THREE assists to his name. Arsenal always looked threatening when they attacked down the right and Olsson was without a doubt the weakest link.

Jason Lowe (36' off) - 4
Taken off injured after Rosicky's trailing leg caught his ankle. His replacement had no clue on how to handle the young Chamberlain despite watching the first half and hour of the match.

Steven Nzonzi - 6
A brave warrior in the middle of the park but helpless in breaking down Arsenal's play.

Radosav Petrovic - 5
Was no stranger to this Arsenal side after being beaten 3-1 on two occasions in his time at Partizan Belgrade but this time his side was utterly humiliated.

David Dunn (44' off) - 6
Was Blackburn's source of creativity going forward, but everything changed for his team after he was sacrificed for a defender.

Morten Gamst Pedersen - 6.5
Got Blackburn back in the game with a mouth watering free-kick when his team barely had a sniff of the ball. Things weren't looking too bright for the home side till they scored another, and it was no way back for Blackburn.

Junior Hoilett - 4
Did absolutely nothing for his team going forward probably because his defenders were crying for help as Walcott and Chamberlain ran riot throughout.

Anthony Modeste - 5.5
An unfortunate booking after a 50-50 challenge with Szczesny. A very "modeste" performance playing alone upfront especially in the first half when Arsenal were totally dominant.

Bradley Orr (36' on) - 5.5
A debut for this man who came on to suffer the onslaught of the red and white.

Grant Hanley (44' on) - 6
Very professional and carried out his defensive duties diligently despite the five goal margin, till that error which led to Henry's goal.
