Manuel Neuer - 6
I don't recall him having to make a save all game. Looks like Bayern's extending their 9 games clean sheet run.
Jerome Boateng - 7
Almost gifted the visiting team not one, but two penalties after bringing down Silva and Richards in the box, but got away with it. Thumbs up for the central defender as he crippled his former team's strikers throughout the game.
Daniel van Buyten - 6.5
Did not have much to do at the back as there were virtually no pressure from the visitors. Got the crucial flick on on the stroke of half time which led to Gomez's second goal.
Philipp Lahm - 8
Mr reliable was superb for Bayern in this game. Solid defending and supported Ribery down the left brilliantly.
Rafinha - 6.5
The terrible Nasri made Rafinha look good in this game, and since Brazillians are not known for their defending, he was more productive in the City half than his own.
Luis Gustavo Dias - 7.5
The speedy Gustavo gave his back four lots of protection, breaking down the passing movement from the City midfielders. His athleticism is definitely an asset to the team.
Bastian Schweinsteiger - 7
Was allowed plenty of space on the edge of the area but couldn't keep his shots on target. His game improved after the restart despite having the lead, showing no mercy to the City players.
Franck Ribery (90' off) - 8.5
Strange to watch Ribery repeatedly making the back-pass instead of taking defenders on, but he was still confident enough to fire away which eventually led to a Bayern goal.
Thomas Muller - 6
Had a quiet game by his high standards but still managed to work the City full backs in the wide positions.
Toni Kroos (82' off) - 7.5
A good run of form from the youngster, who was always dangerously lurking around the City penalty box waiting to pounce. His set piece deliveries were also first class.
Mario Gomez (90' off) - 8
Once again showed his predatory instincts in the box by scoring two simple goals. If he can remain fit, Bayern will make it far in this competition for sure.
Anatoily Tymoschuk (82' on)
Arjen Robben (90' on)
Nils Petersen (90' on)
Joe Hart - 8
Pulled off a string of brilliant saves prior to the two goals conceded, but his defenders deserted him and Gomez had the simplest of finishes.
Kolo Toure - 5
His second appearance after the lengthy 6 months ban and looked a little rusty, giving away possession needlessly. The manager's decision to drop Joleon Lescott to play Toure backfired bigtime.
Vincent Kompany - 7
A decisive defender who had an eye on Gomez for the majority of the game, unfortunately his other defenders lacked that extra concentration.
Gael Clichy - 6
Was his usual self leaving holes at the back everytime he ran forward, but linked up well with Silva down the left.
Micah Richards - 6.5
Probably the best candidate to man-mark Ribery and he did a decent job in doing so. City looked the most likely to score whenever he made runs forward and even had a penalty appeal turned down.
Gareth Barry (73' off) - 5
The England national's days are numbered. His mistimed challenges and terrible passing probably caused the City midfield to crumble.
Yaya Toure - 5
Everyone is human and has their bad days, even Yaya. He was embarrassingly out-played and out-muscled in the middle of the park.
David Silva - 6.5
City's brightest player on the pitch, but was simply outclassed by the talented Germans. Got a little unsettled when the substitutions were made.
Samir Nasri (70' off) - 5
Was a spectator for large periods of the match. Nobody would believe he was the creative spark for Arsenal last season if you watched him play in this match.
Edin Dzeko (56' off) - 5
Dzeko of all players should have a better idea about facing Bayern, but he couldn't find a way past the gigantic Van Buyten, which resulted in his manager replacing him.
Sergio Aguero - 4
Was poor from start to finish, and the situation got worst after Dzeko was taken off. Welcome to the UEFA Champions League Aguero.
Nigel De Jong (56' on) - 6
What a peculiar substitution made by Roberto Mancini. A defensive player when his team is two goals down?
James Milner (70' on) - 5.5
Came on to watch his team mates get outclassed by the Bayern Munich players.
Aleksandar Kolarov (73' on) - 6.5
There was a slight improvement in they way City play after his introduction, but still did not cause much problems for the Bayern defence.
