MPBL: Kept on the bench the past two seasons, John Wilson itching to play for San Juan

FOR two seasons, John Wilson has been a frozen talent and couldn’t get some time to play in all the teams he played for.

The journeyman deadshot gunner finally decided it’s time to move out of the PBA and showcase his skills in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League where he will the opportunity to prove his worth.

During the 2015-2016 season, Wilson saw action in just 13 games the entire season, averaging 11.5 minutes per game.

That was the last time the former Jose Rizal University, a first round draftee of the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings in 2010, had enjoyed significant minutes.

For someone who loves playing inside the court, Wilson felt a career move in the MPBL is necessary.

“I miss playing a lot.

Now given the opportunity to play, Wilson made sure he’ll be in his best shape so when the time comes he’s needed, he’ll make sure he’ll deliver.

Wilson will be one among the few ex-PBA players seeing action for the San Juan Knights, an expansion team in the MPBL, which is making a comeback in the regional basketball scene.

Aside from Wilson, other ex-PBA players playing for the Knights are Mac Cardona, Larry Rodriguez, Jam Cortes and Samboy de Leon.
