Kobe Paras won’t be playing for UCLA after all.
In a report by NBC Sports’ Rob Dauster, the Filipino wingman is said to have withdrawn from the university after not being able to meet academic requirements.
According to the release sent out by the university, Paras was admitted to UCLA upon condition and withdrew after the “academic conditions of his admission were not met.”
Several other college basketball reporters in the United States have also tweeted the news.
Paras, a 6-foot-6 wunderkind, last played for Middlebrooks Academy and was one of the Bruins’ highly-anticipated recruits in a class that also includes 2017 NBA Draft top prospect Lonzo Ball.
The son of 2-time PBA MVP Benjie Paras is a 4-star shooting guard prospect, according to Scout.com, and was the subject of a special feature on Bleacher Report earlier this year. — By Josiah Albelda
